We are excited to finally reveal Matchmaking 3V3. Completely new in a Trackmania game, this mode has been designed for players with a competitive spirit, as well as for those wishing to have fun with their friends. And it is completely available for FREE with Starter Access!
Matchmaking 3V3 is currently in Beta phase. The goal is to improve it over time. There will be new features that will arrive, such as rank pictures, and being able to group with friends. The ranks as well as the point gains, which we will talk about in this article, are also subject to changes.
As this mode is completely free, everyone is invited to test it out, and to give us feedback on the forum here. If you want to report a bug, please include in your post your account ID (Ingame Settings à Profile) and the Match ID, which is located at the bottom right of the score screen during your match. (Known issues here)
Now, let’s have a look at it!
A new button called “Matchmaking Beta” has appeared in the “Live” section of the game. Once you click on it, you arrive in the Lobby section. Very soon, you will be able to group up with friends. For now, you can only complete your team with strangers through matchmaking according to your rank. Once you are ready, click on “Play” to start a race.
This mode is a 3V3 race that takes place in a random map of the current campaign. There is a 30 second Warm-Up before to familiarize yourself with the map. Then the race starts. You have one lap to make the best time possible. Each competitor will bring points to their team according to their place on the run:
6 points for 1st, 5 points for 2nd, 4 points for 3rd and so on. At the end of the race, the team with the highest score wins the round. The 1st team to win 5 rounds is victorious!
If a player leaves a match before it ends for any reason, he can still come back before it is finished. However, if he does not come back, he will lose double the number of points he would have lost in case of defeat. If he left during the warm-up, he would lose the exact number of points he would have lost in case of defeat.
In the case that some players have left the game, the point system adapts to rebalance the game:
• As a reminder in case of 3v3, the points distribution is done as such (from 1st to 6th place): 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
• In case of: 2v3/2v2 = Only the two best players from each team scores points
• In case of: 1v3/1v2 = Only the best player from each team scores points
• In case of: 0v3/0v2/0v1 = The match is ended, and the remaining team’s player win the match.
Depending on the results and the rank of your opponents compared to yours, you will receive or lose ranking points. The MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the match receives bonus points. Note that the MVP can be part of the losing team.
Those points will allow you to climb the ranking faster. There are 11 different ranks:
Unranked – 0 point
Beginner I – 1000 points
Beginner II – 1250 points
Beginner III – 1500 points
Challenger I – 2000 points
Challenger II – 2250 points
Challenger III – 2500 points
Master I – 3000 points
Master II – 3500 points
Master III– 4000 points

*Regarding the Trackmaster rank, it represents the top 10 players in Matchmaking. The minimum number of points to access this rank is 5000 points, but this number is likely to increase according to the 10th top player score.
So, climb the ranks with your mates, and reach the top of the World. Good luck and have fun!
