TMWT2025: Global Playoffs #2 – Road to the World Cup

The most anticipated time of the year has arrived for the elite Trackmania duos! The Global Playoffs #2 are set to kick off, bringing together the top 16 duos from the Trackmania World Tour’s regular season. These intense playoffs will determine the four very best duos who will earn their coveted spots in the prestigious 2025 World Cup.

Qualification & World Cup

The 16 qualifying duos are distributed as follows:

  • EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa): 9 duos
  • NCSA (North, Central, and South America): 4 duos
  • APAC (Asia-Pacific): 3 duos

Following the Playoffs, the best team from each region will be qualified for the World Cup, based on Regional Ranking points. The best performing team from the Global Playoffs, not yet qualified through their Regional Ranking will join them as the 4th team to complete the World Cup roster.

Seeding

The seeding for the Global Playoffs #2 follows a method that avoids subjectivity, while maintaining a balance between the three regions.
First, regional slots are defined by the cumulative campaign points earned by the players of each duo during Stage 2 of the Trackmania World Tour.
Following this, the slots within each region are filled based on the duos’ respective regional rankings.

Global Playoffs #2 Schedule

The Global Playoffs #2 will be played over the week-end of the 4/5th of October, leaving enough room afterwards for the 4 qualified teams to train on the World Cup maps, that are to be released soon after. Here is the breakdown of the tournament:

Saturday, October 04 – 1:00 PM (CEST)

The action begins with a demanding Swiss Stage, featuring 5 rounds of intense competition. Each match in this stage will be a Best-of-5 (Bo5) series, pushing duos to demonstrate consistency and adaptability.

Following the Swiss Stage, the first rounds of the Double Elimination bracket will commence, also played in a Best-of-5 format. The number of Double Elimination rounds played on Saturday will be determined by a rolling schedule, ensuring continuous excitement.

Sunday, October 05 – 1:00 PM (CEST)

Sunday will witness the dramatic conclusion of the Double Elimination bracket, with all remaining matches played as Best-of-5 series. The stakes will be at their absolute highest as duos battle for survival and a chance at the ultimate glory.

The pinnacle of the tournament will be the Grand Final with Reset. This highly anticipated match will be a Best-of-7 (Bo7) series. In the thrilling scenario where the team from the Lower Bracket wins the first leg of the Grand Final, a reset will occur, and an additional Best-of-7 leg will be played to definitively crown the champions. This format ensures that the victorious duo truly earns their title, even if they had a longer path through the Lower Bracket.
