THE TRACKS: PLAY AND LEARN!
The series begins with “Understanding Diabetes”, a wide and approachable track built around the idea of blood sugar fluctuations. Players gain speed through boost sections representing food, energy, coffee, or stress before entering slower zones linked to exercise and the passage of time. The map concludes on a stable platform symbolizing balanced blood sugar management and optimal driving.
In “Staying on Track”, the gameplay becomes more technical and demanding. Players must carefully manage speed through tight corners while avoiding slippery side sections that represent high blood sugar. During the race, visual effects such as slow motion, camera shake, and distortions simulate the impact stress and fatigue can have on daily life for someone living with diabetes, creating an immersive gameplay experience.
The third map, “Every Day is Different”, focuses on decision-making. Built as a multi-path puzzle map, players constantly choose between routes with different surfaces and outcomes. Some decisions lead to smoother and faster progression, while others slow the player down. The track reflects how small choices can influence blood sugar over time.
With “Decisions Under Pressure”, the pace dramatically increases. This high-speed challenge is centered around reactivity and precision, with almost no margin for error. Players must stay fully focused while making split-second decisions, reinforcing the idea that diabetes management sometimes requires rapid adaptation to sudden changes.
The final map, “Balance the Curve”, offers a playful and educational conclusion to the series. Players drive directly on a blood sugar curve representing a full day of glucose variations. Presented with a side-view camera inspired by classic trial games, the track is a visual representation of someone’s possible glyecmic curve throughout the day. The message is simple and optimistic: now that players better understand diabetes, they have the tools to stay on track.
